In celebration of Mother's Day, I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite childhood memories of things that my mom and I did together. I was lucky enough to even be home-schooled by my mom for a couple of years in elementary school, so we did a lot of fun projects together. One of my favorite memories from the home-schooling years was studying Italy and making tortellini together from scratch. No pasta machines are required (although making spaghetti from scratch is just as fun) just a good rolling pin! Making tortellini is a little bit challenging, so if you're working with very young kids, I would recommend making ravioli instead. (I was 9 when my mom and I made tortellini together.)Here is a great recipe for making homemade tortellini, courtesy of Alton Brown from the Food Network.
