Modern Baby Mobiles

We’ve all been in a situation where it feels impossible to put our children down for a nap. Time and time again we’ve tried rocking them to sleep, playing soft music, giving them a bottle, and singing them a song but nothing seems to help. Rocking seems to be the most effective method but when do we let them fall asleep on their own? There are a number of opinions from parents and doctors regarding the age in which we should stop rocking our children to sleep. Doctors tend to advise very early ages such as 4-6 months after birth but it all comes down to personal preference. A great way to transition the way in which your baby falls asleep during the day or night is with a baby mobile.

Think of the mesmerizing scene in front of your baby’s eyes as they lie on their back and listen to the soft mobile music! An even better idea is to hook up a modern baby mobile that not only helps put your little ones to sleep but looks chic and stylish in any modern nursery. Children’s Furniture Inspired by Cartoons

When you want to go above and beyond in the design of your children’s room, think about what they most enjoy watching: cartoons! The zany world of animation has inspired Dust Furniture to create a unique collection of kids’ bedroom furniture that will make your children feel like they are living the life of their favorite cartoon character.

This imaginative and functional line of dressers, bookcases, tables, mirrors, and more pushes the envelope when it comes to stylish and original design. The artist, Vincent Thomas Leman, has found a way to make life more fun and energetic by replacing the mundane designs we see today with funky and vibrant furniture.

Stokke Strollers Add Style to Your Stroll

Fall is my favorite season. There’s something about crisp weather and bright sun that puts me in the best mood. This past Sunday in Boston, I did plenty of walking while I was able to experience most of the day’s gorgeous weather. During my walk, I found that I was sharing the sidewalk with what seemed like an army of baby strollers heading this way and that and it got me thinking about children and fall weather. Just because there’s a hint of chilly weather in the air doesn’t mean that you can’t bring your children outside!

A great way to rejuvenate both of your lives is to take your baby outside for a relaxing walk around the block. The Stokke Stroller collection is a great place to start when you’re in the market for a baby or toddler stroller. The elevated stroller design keeps you in close contact with your children at all times and also allows for two-way sitting with three rear-facing sitting positions and two forward-facing positions. Make life more comfortable for you and your baby with a baby stroller from the award-winning Stokke name.

Kids’ Halloween Costumes Part IV

I’m here to give you a friendly reminder that Halloween isn’t right around the corner as everyone has been saying – it’s right in front of us! I think of the weekend before Halloween as a “corner”, our last full free days where we can get our hands on the best Halloween costumes for our kids. As I mentioned in an earlier Halloween costume post, I described myself as a last minute person when it comes to costume hunting and that I probably wouldn’t get motivated until October 28th. Looks like this year I beat my goal and found my entire Halloween costume two days ahead of schedule: October 26th. The stress-free feeling I am experiencing now that I don’t have to worry about digging through costume stores anymore is amazing.

In case you haven’t found the time to dedicate toward your kids’ costumes, you are still in luck! All Children’s Furniture has a great collection of kids’ Halloween costumes right online so that you can avoid the hassle and lines at the costume shop in town. Skip the hassle and order a great Halloween costume online today for the terrorific event this Friday, October 31st!

Parenting Guide from Urban Baby

Everyone needs a little parenting every once in a while – even parents! Whether you’re a first time mom or dad or have been around the block a few times, it’s natural to seek guidance on what’s best for you and your children. While on the hunt for an informative and user-friendly parenting guide, I came across Urban Baby, a resource for urban parents that provides a place for discussion and additional information on issues ranging from the trendiest, modern nursery designs to which school in the city is best for your children’s learning needs.

On site, Urban Baby introduces their two most informative features entitled ‘Talk’ and ‘Buzz’. The Talk section, described as ‘the heart of the site’, hosts a large forum for the community where visitors can post questions or comments relating to practically any facet of their lives as parents. After taking a peek at this section, I found questions relating to organizing school fundraiser events, discussing the appropriate time to travel with a baby, children’s fashion during the fall season, health questions during pregnancy, and the list goes on and on. In addition to parenting, visitors sometimes throw in posts regarding current events such as the Presidential race and our financial crisis. Overall, Talk is always buzzing with hot topics and lively discussion. The second great feature of Urban Baby is ‘Buzz’, a section dedicated to the latest in news, trendy products, and parenting guides that are filled with a tip for nearly any situation. Get ideas for your next great read while learning a little about yourself as a parent and the products that will make your life a little easier.

Halloween Recipes: Devilish and Delicious

Don’t let me make you nervous but there are NINE days left until Halloween! Now I’m sure you don’t need me to motivate you to get moving on your decorations, Halloween recipes, and Halloween costume ideas since your children probably have been celebrating this spooktacular holiday since the start of October. The idea of Halloween has probably been on your children’s minds for weeks, or perhaps months, since they started seeing premature Halloween merchandise pop up in every store window on the drive to school.

A great way to keep your kids busy is by putting them in the kitchen to whip up some ghoulish treats for a fun afterschool snack. Today’s recipes all come from the food experts themselves: Food Network. While most of us drool over the delicious food presented in front of us on our TV screen, I’m sure many of us think, “Would I be able to make that?” Well, these Halloween treats certainly aren’t anything close to the complexity of Giada’s Chocolate Tiramisu, but they still look and taste great! Plus, your kids will love them! Who wouldn’t want to eat an eyeball cupcake or caramel spider?!

Kids’ Halloween Costumes from Pottery Barn

It came as a surprise to find that Pottery Barn Kids sold Halloween costumes. Just when I thought they couldn’t get any better with their adorable collection of kids’ furniture, décor, and toys, I find that they in fact do sell a beautiful line of quality costumes for kids that are both fun and fabulous.

In my last couple of Halloween-inspired posts, I focused on what to dress your baby up as for the spooktacular event of the year. This time, I had to feature some of what Pottery Barn Kids has to offer – especially since there is only about a week left until the big day! In some cases, Halloween parties, haunted houses, and tractor hay rides may have been planned a week early and it’s time to get your kids ready for the season!

In addition to Pottery Barn’s fun and fabulous line of Halloween costumes, they are offering an assortment of trick-or-treat bags that are the perfect accessory for your kids’ candy collection. Take a look through the collection of costumes and see which theme fits your child the best!

Keep Clean with Modern Baby Bibs

We all know that feeding your baby can be a challenge – while you’re trying to swish the spoon through the air and make airplane noises, your baby continues to squish the baby food out of their mouth. Fear not for that’s what baby bibs are for. Judging by their eating habits, it’s safe to say that you’re going to be popping those bibs into the washer a few times per week so why not add a few more to your collection?

Make feeding time fun with these adorable bibs that are made especially for the Halloween season. Lstudio, a fun and fabulous Etsy shop, has a bundle of Halloween inspired and modern design baby feeding bibs. Each one has a unique modern print on the front and back, giving you two decorative bibs that fit comfortably on your baby. Halloween Baby Costumes Part II

It’s October 14th and I have had Halloween on my mind for weeks now. I’ve already been bombarded by friends and family asking me what I’m going to dress up as and where I will be on Halloween night. The answer to both questions is “I don’t know” and normally this would kick me in high gear and motivate me to start searching for the perfect costume for Halloween ’08. Unfortunately I’m a “last minute” type of person so panic mode won’t set in until oh, probably October 28th.

For the rest of you, don’t learn by my example – especially if you have little ones counting on you to provide them with a terror-ific Halloween costume. Even if your children are too young to know what Halloween is all about, now’s the time to squeeze them into one of these adorable new outfits. If anything, it will provide a great camera opp!
